Vicar Street, located on Thomas Street in Dublin, is a popular and intimate venue for concerts, variety shows, comedy acts and drama performances. The venue is owned by Harry Crosbie and run by Peter Aiken and it first opened in 1998. This intimate venue has standing capacity for 1500 people and seating capacity for 1050 people. Each year Vicar Street hosts the choice music prize ceremony awards and the venue is also occasionally used to accommodate higher than expected attendances at other smaller venues.
The venue has been chosen by national and international performers as their first choice to make live recordings of their shows. Some of these performers include Aslan, Jason Byrne, Christy Moore, Tommy Tiernan and Neil Young. The venue has also won the IMRO award for the best live music venue in Dublin in 2008 and 2009 and in 2008 Vicar Street was also delighted to accept the Hot Press Readers Award for bets live music venue in Ireland.
